Plasmon induced photocatalysis opens ways for efficient solar energy conversion into chemical energy. The photons absorbed in the metal particles produce hot electrons that should be efficiently transferred into surrounding medium to drive chemical reactions. Different mechanisms for the transfer are investigated, the limiting factors are identified and the approaches to improve the transfer are proposed.
