WSFiS - Web Services for Fieldbus Systems
 The project targets on using Web Services for the vertical integration of fieldbus systems. Fieldbus systems are industrial plant floor systems consisting of a bus connected processing nodes. Their vertical integration satisfies the growing interest in using information rooted in automation systems at the level of operational management to enhance production and its control (e.g. for supply chain management, enterprise resource planning and manufacturing execution systems). Web Services are an appropriate technology for that purpose allowing interperability and high-level abstractions using Web technology. In the project generic techniques are developed that enable exposing data and control of fieldbus systems using Web Services. Interfaces are defined considering the internet's high latancy and providing high level abstractions.
