This is the project supported withing the EU-Program as the Marie-Curie Host Fellowships for Early Stage Research Trainig. The goal of theDEASE project is to create a multinational and multidisciplinary early stage trainig site, where the partners run a joint PhD trainig programme ina core of applied mathematics: Partial Differential Equations are the basics for mathematical description for many phenomena in physics, biology, and otherfileds of basic science.

The specific topics to be covered are:Biology:dynamics of self organization of biological ensembles, cell motility, biological evolution, biofluids and pathologies of blood vesselsPhysics/Engineering:complex flows, particle transport and particle dynamics, plasma models, semiconductor devices. The 5 participating teams from 4 countries are from WPI Vienna, the ENS in Paris/Cachan, the MIP in Toulose, the TU/Uni Hamburg-Harburg and theFORTH in Heraklion. The project coordimator is Prof. P..A. Markowich (WPI Vienna). The Hamburger team consits of Profs. I. Gasser (team organizer), M. Lukacova (head of trainig committee), J. Struckmeier, O. von Estorff and E. Kreuzer.
